Diamond Coring

Need guidance on core drilling concrete for a pool fence.?
We have the fence panels and nylon plugs that go in the pool deck – bought them on eBay brand new, but no instructions or installer! We know that as the very bottom of the plugs is 1 1/8″ across, we need to use a core drill rather than a hammer drill. And from our online research we learned that it should be water cooled, with a diamond core bit. But my husband asked a very smart question. Once we are down 4″ into the concrete and stop, how does the core break off so we can pull it out? He has lots of construction experience, but happens to have never used a core drill before. We don’t know how thick the concrete is, but suspect it’s more than 4″.
Still don’t know if we need a 1 1/8″ or 1 1/4″ bit, but hope seller will know! Plugs are 1 1/8 at narrowest, flaring out to over 1 1/4″. Any idea?!
Thanks.
I’d suggest asking the seller, and if that doesn’t work in my opinion head down to home depot and ask one of their experts
