Can I do auto body sanding with my Dewalt DW849 Buffer/Polisher/Sander?

I normally use this to buff and I know I can put sanding pads on it. Its is very strong and has a max 3000 RPMs. I do back yard auto body but my air DA sander will not work with my 11.9 CFM compressor so I am wondering if this would be an option or I would likely make a mess?

Personally when I do sanding i try to avoid using a power sander, coming from experience you may over sand and power away contours in the body that need fine care. A power sander also kicks up a massive amount of dust unless you had a vacuum attachment, just my personal preference is all.
